The Great Dreamwidth Migration

So I got a Dreamwidth account code the other day, but I haven't set up an account yet, mostly because I'm trying to decide what it should be. I suppose the easiest thing is to just keep my same username, but I'm also not sure if/when I would move over there, and what the purpose of the blog would be. If it would be basically the same as this one, or if I'd try to go in a different direction.

Is anyone else doing the Dreamwidth thing? Got any suggestions?

I've got one. I just changed names, for no reason--it's uruhia over there. I . . . don't really know what I'm going to do with mine, either. It's really easy to import all of your LJ content, though, so, if nothing else, it's a handy back-up!

Yeah, my main issue is whether or not to change usernames. I have no real name on LJ, just a username, and I kinda wish that my username was something easily translatable into a real name, if you get what I'm trying to say. cowboyguy doesn't quite work in that sense...

Yep, I know what you mean. A handle, right? That's why I changed mine. I go by Jasper, on LJ, but . . . Uruhia's kinda cool. It's Maori, I think, means "possessed by a god." And I thought, what the hell, new website, new handle.

Maybe look around the Behind the Name website?

So I've been looking on Behind the Name (omg great site), and then I was thinking about characters of mine, and one that I just came up with is a guy named Dae. And then I saw the name Daedalus one Behind the Name, and thought, hey! Daedalus. Mythology, nickname potential. But at the same time, the name Dae itself isn't taken yet, and I could just stick with that... Oooh, this is difficult.

It is an awesome site :3 I spend so much time on there when I'm coming up with a new character. Or just . . . killing time looking at spiffy names with weird meanings.

And Dreamwidth has so many free names! Woo~ I almost went with Tesla.

Meh... I gave up and just went with cowboyguy again. I figure if I seriously start to move over there, I can make up a handle for myself regardless of what my username is. And hey, if I get more invite codes, I can just make more journals! ^_^

I thought about doing the DreamWidth thing, but... I'm afraid that it's just not worth it. Sure, people are going over there, but it's just another website for me to check and I just have absolutely no drive to have another place for my thoughts. I guess I'm a simple gal who is content enough to be on LJ.

You could certainly keep your username (I'm always going to be in favor of it because, you know, Riley's a dork), but... maybe you'd find out that something from a song would fit well. Or something? You could certainly have a journal just for those really cool dolls, you know. :D

Yeah, I just went with cowboyguy again. I don't really know if I'm even gonna use Dreamwidth for awhile, because I'm pretty content with LJ right now. But apparently it's really easy to cross-post and back up your LJ entries, so if I use it for nothing else, at least I've got a sort of archive of my LJ.

But I'm like you. I've got so many different things, I don't want to add another to my list of things to check and post to...
