Alright, here goes...



Hi, everyone! Welcome to my first ever Supernatural commentfic meme! In honor of the fact that I'm going to be moving soon, the theme of this meme is "starting over." God knows the Winchesters have been separated and reunited, argued and apologized, died and been brought back enough times, so I figure we've got lots of source material to start from. As long as there's something along this general theme, I don't care what you do. It can range from, "Hey, let's fix this apocalypse we started." to "Sammy, I'm sorry, I've been a total jerk today. Want a pizza?" (And who doesn't love a good curtainfic?) And, because it's me, any h/c you add in there can never, ever be a bad thing. No mpreg, though, because it generally squicks me. And warn for various levels of kink or possible triggers, just in case. Besides that, do what you want, and we'll operate under the "don't like, don't read" policy.

So here's what you do:
1. Post prompts. As many prompts as you like, one per comment. Seriously, there is no such thing as too many prompts.
2. Especially since we're getting closer to season 10, warn for spoilers. Since I have some friends who still haven't seen season 9, I'm gonna count that as spoiler-y, too. Anything up through the end of 8, though, we'll assume everyone has seen.
3. Any pairings or non-pairings you want. Wincest, gen, Destiel, whatever.
4. Fill the prompts! All the prompts! Fill as many prompts as you want, and multiple fills for one prompt are totally okay. Either post it as a reply to the original comment, or post with a link to the fic.
5. (Pssst! Share this with your friends. The more people, the better!)
6. Prompting and posting will continue either as long as people are interested, or until I'm drowned in a sea of fic. No deadlines on fics, either. We can wait. :)

Sam, Dean, and Cas finally get to settle down somewhere. But they all secretly hate it and won't admit it because they think the others are having a great time. How long do they play house before one of them finally breaks and says something?

Sam's first week at Stanford. It's a fresh start for a life without Dean & John, without huting, and with the same bed to sleep in every night. It's supposed be everything he's been dreaming of for as long as he can remember.

So what if the lights in his dorm hallway flicker sometimes? So what if it sometimes gets so cold in the room he has to pull the blanket off his bed and wrap up in it while reading his first ever college text books even though it's California and supposed to be warm? So what if there's a scream from down the hall in the middle of the night... oh crap.

Castiel's present vessel gets violently annihilated beyond repair so he has to take a new one. The one he finds (ethically sourced of course) happens to be an attractive female of exactly Dean's type. This takes some adjusting to, not so much for Cas but for Sam and (especially!) Dean.

Breaking into an above-ground crypt in New Orleans during the middle of Mardi Gras to salt and burn a body is not as easy as it sounds. Sam and Dean keep getting interrupted and have to take cover. They're never going to finish this hunt...

Dean always liked to wear Sam's hoodies when he was sick. But Sam's off living the college life now, John's on a hunt, and somehow Dean finds himself standing in the middle of Walmart trying to find something comfortable to wear.

(And maybe a week or so later a package shows up at his current hotel with a Stanford hoodie inside?)

I can't imagine where the idea for this prompt came from. SQUEE! Dean wearing Sam's hoodie when he's off at college is SO head canon for me thanks to fic.

I desperately want to uninvite my friends tomorrow and stay home all day and write. (But they're coming to help me organize my thousands of books... so I can't say no to such generosity!)

So I know it's a different fandom, but I've been thinking about this Spike quote from season 6 of Buffy:
"Uh, I do remember what I said. The promise... to protect her. If I'da done that... even if I didn't make it... you wouldn't have had to jump. But I want you to know I did save you. Not when it counted, of course, but, after that. Every night after that. I'd see it all again... I'd do something different. Faster or more clever, you know? Dozens of times, lots of different ways... Every night I save you."

So, after Sam jumps into the pit, Dean can't help but replay it over and over in his head, wishing he could've done something different.

Spoilers for s8. Early in s8, Sam becomes injured on a case and Dean finds himself at a complete loss for what to do. Maybe Sam isn't responding to medication as he ought, or maybe he's actually having a negative reaction. Maybe he has an allergic reaction to a food item. Whatever the situation, Sam is unresponsive and Dean has to contact Amelia to get information about Sam because he doesn't know what happened and he feels like he's starting over.

After making a bad first impression with Jessica (I'll leave whatever he did up to you) Sam calls up his brother for a little advice on how to handle the opposite sex. Bonus: Dean's advice doesn't really work on Jessica (it's too cheesy, etc.) and Sam wins her over by being his adorable self.

Set immediately after "Phantom Traveler" s1 ep4 (The ‘starting over’ aspect being that the scenario takes place near the beginning of the series, when the boys were still trying to feel each other out.)

The boys are in between jobs after the near-plane crash incident, and Dean is acting out of sorts. He is drinking more, disappearing at odd times of the day and night, and is strangely jittery, unfocused and distant. In addition, his snarky, cocky attitude has suddenly grown ten times worse than usual. Sam assumes Dean is just being an ass, and is on the verge of having a major blowout with his brother. Then one night, Sam walks in on Dean in the bathroom of the hotel, where Dean is on the floor, in the throes of a major panic attack. After helping Dean through the attack and helping him calm down, Dean finally confides to Sam that the plane incident has been totally fucking with his head, and he has been having frequent panic attacks in the aftermath, but was too humiliated to say anything about it. Sam has never seen Dean like this before, and is shaken and disillusioned by his big brother’s vulnerability.

Post “Faith” AU (because apparently I’ve become suddenly nostalgic for season 1)

Sam and Dean never end up going to see the faith healer, and Sam is able to find a treatment for Dean after his heart attack, which gives Dean some more time to live, indefinitely. Dean is still sickly and weak, and is on the waiting list for a heart transplant. So Sam rents them a house in a residential neighborhood and takes care of him while they wait. Their next door neighbors become acquainted with Sam and eventually become very fond of the brothers, bringing them meals, assisting them around the house, inviting them to dinner when Dean is up for it, etc. I’m envisioning this from one of the neighbor's POV, but whatever preference is fine.

Bonus scene: Dean receives his heart transplant, and Sam and Dean go back to saving people and hunting things. Years later, they return to thank the family for everything they did for them while Dean was sick. The neighbors are shocked and elated to see Dean almost unrecognizably strong and healthy. (why yes, I give Dean semi-happy prompts, on occasion :)

Friggin' witches. Every day they don't figure out this case, Sam forgets how to do one thing. At first it's little things ("Dean, I can't tie my shoes.") but what happens when the consequences start to get worse? And will they be able to reverse it?

Because I can never get enough of Mystery Spot fics...

During the time loop, for about a week, Sam goes kind of catatonic. Dean can't get much out of him, and of course he doesn't know what's going on with each new day. Buy Sam is so very tired, and he can't do anything to stop the time loop.

Hopped up on Nyquil, one of the boys makes a terrible mistake without realizing it. By the time they do, it's almost too late to fix the situation and it requires a complete do-over... and maybe some awkward apologizing.

The mistake could be anything from making a move on someone he shouldn't (his brother? Cas?) to killing the wrong vampire (oops!) or anything in-between.

Okay, so I'm ten seconds in to the first scene with Jared in the pilot of Gilmore Girls... He just said his name. I instantly had this prompt. Can be a GG crossover, or it could just be a SPN fic. Up to you.

Sam is sick of being himself. He's sick of being the new kid, the nerd, the one that everyone ignores two seconds after he introduces himself. So just this once, on his first day at his latest school, he decides to be Dean instead.

The kinds of things that pop into my head. I swear...

So, for some reason, Dean can no longer leave Sam on his own. Which means they're not hunting, which means Dean has to get a job where he can work and look after Sam at the same time. He gets a job as a pizza delivery guy, with a very forgiving boss who bends the rules and lets Sam ride with him. So there they are, driving around town for 8 or 10 hours a day, in an Impala that smells like pizza and has a little neon sign clipped to the roof. What has happened to his life?

Sam and Dean settle down, and it's their first Halloween. Dean is secretly getting a kick out of buying cheesy Halloween decorations, and stocking up on candy to hand out to the kids in their neighborhood. Of course, he also ends up with a stomachache when he eats all of the leftover candy they didn't hand out. Sam makes fun of him, but maybe tries to make him feel better, too.
